We kicked around the idea of having a formal honor for the people who help make Filling The Void happen.
We even have a name for it – the Philippians 1:5 Award. Here’s an excerpt from that portion of the Bible to show you what we mean:
“Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart. I am so pleased that you have continued on in this with us, believing and proclaiming God’s Message…”
We’re going to start by calling out Karen Rose, shown on this page with the recipient (Wanda) of our 40,000th sack lunch circa October 2011.
Far as we can remember, Karen has been with us since 2004 – quite possibly our longest tenured volunteer.
She’s been on shopping trips to gather up hundreds of warm winter shirts for the homeless, helps train new volunteers and runs our Tulsa volunteer center (a really small rented space downtown).
Karen, you have a heart of gold, and we cannot thank you enough for more than a dozen years of faithful service to Filling The Void. You are a blessing beyond measure.
